I created the clip art image in Adobe Illustrator. I created the different parts (the tree, bear, and gifts) using the pen and shape tools.
The rest of the image I laid out on Canva.com. I alternated a serif font with a script font that I thought appeared fun and festive for the Christmas design. The large text at the top, “Donations Needed,” draws initial attention to itself by its size and bright color to convey the point of the flyer.
The green sub-header is stylized and meant to draw the reader further in with a question and variety in color and text. I chose to write the body text in black as it will be easier to read, and the red text highlights important information.
I alternated the text towards the bottom in green and read. I chose to add the organization’s contact information in the serif font, as it must be easy to read. The “Thank You!” Text is in the script font, as it is meant to compliment the main text, similar to the script text above.
